General Mary on the move

What is… Mary on the move?

And how are YOU today?

To tell the truth I don’t much care how you are – I’m tired of asking people that and mollycoddling people and fixing things for people all my working life.  You have to mind yourselves now people – I’m outta here! i.e. mary’s on the move!

What am I going to blog about?

I’m going to blog as I blogging feel like it, bitch when I feel like it, celebrate when I feel like it and tell you about it – if I feel like it!

You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll curse me, you’ll disagree with me and maybe you’ll enjoy me.  Either way I’m just having a bit of fun with this blogging stuff because I’m no longer a busy bee charging around the country like a blue-ass fly.

Where did I get the name for my blog?

In 2002 I had a good team around me and home was organised so I took a notion to go flash-packing (the opposite to back-packing!) around the world for 6 weeks and maryonthemove was my email address.  I met my daughter in New York, flew to Vegas and stayed in The Bellagio, moving on to the Lowes on Venice Beach watching the muscle-men of LA working out morning, noon and night.  We hired a flashy gold Mustang convertible for our road-trip to San Francisco via Carmel, Monterey and other gorgeous places along California Highway Number One.

My beloved daughter resumed her gap-year trip and I vamoosed on to Treasure Island in Fiji, then on to New Zealand (and 5 lots of cousins scattered around the two islands).  Flashing over to Australia – I lived it up in Sydney, the Whitsunday Islands (where I was rescued from drowning by a young medical student from Sligo), The Great Barrier Reef (in my blue lycra sting-deterring suit – with lumps and bumps aplenty!), skimmed the treetops in a hot air balloon in Cairns and drank in the humidity of Cape Tribulation, finishing up in Koh Samui (Thailand) with a judge and his three children for company.  Then home to a somewhat lukewarm reception (yikes!  I over did it…).

How often will I be blogging?

I’m an every-second-day woman by reputation but realistically I see myself doing stuff in bursts to start, then, for your delectation – what’s seldom will be wonderful – ha ha!

I’ll probably put my musings on Facebook and Twitter thingies as well.

Topics I hope to blog about;

  • Places I’ve been
  • Nature
  • Musings on my life to date
  • Annoyances in my life
  • Joys in my life
  • Things that might interest you
  • Family
  • Friends
  • Behaviours
  • Medical matters
  • Business tips
  • Wise oldish woman stuff.
  • Weird oldish woman stuff
  • Happy oldish woman stuff
  • Music
  • Lies and untruths
  • Fictional stuff to keep you guessing whether I’m serious or not!
